Betty Schmitz, 87, of Clinton, passed away Sunday, April 15th, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral service will be at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 19th at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel. Pastor Chris Minor-Heilig will be officiating. A visitation will occur 2 hours prior to the Funeral service from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
Betty was born Dollie Betty Dietterich, the daughter of Harrison Park and Ruth Mae (Warfield) Dietterich on June 24, 1924 in Clinton, Ia. Betty attended Lyons Senior High School. On November 24th, 1950 she married William Schmitz Jr. at the Lyons United Methodist Church in Clinton Iowa, they were married for 60 years until his passing on April 26th, 2011. Betty was employed by Allens Tea Room, Clinton Garment Company, Burpee Seed Company and Nielsen Clearing House.
Betty was a member of the Living Faith United Parish. She enjoyed crafts, reading, collecting recipes and loved sharing in various hobbies with her husband including rock hunting, fishing, roadside picnics, daytrips and gardening.
Survivors include one daughter - Karen (Mrs. Ron) Crampton Sr.; two granddaughters - Aubrey (Blake) Roth, Sara Crampton; three grandsons - Ronald Jester, Buck Crampton, Taylor (Brandi) Crampton; two great grandson- Ellis Roth and Corey Thompson; one sister - Marjorie Frye; one brother - Fred Dietterich and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William, three sisters and four brothers.
Memorials can be made to the Living Faith United Parish Church.
