Lydia "The Old Lady" Lillian Toureene, 91, of Clinton, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2012, at Mercy Living Center.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 6, at 2 p.m. at Lemke Funeral Homes, South Chapel, 2610 Manufacturing Drive, Clinton IA. Visitation will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 6, until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Pallbearers will be TJ Naughton, Billy Phillips, Monty Schaffer, Jacob Seitz, Jeff Burtis and Rocky McMahon.
Lydia was born on April 27, 1920, in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of William and Ethel (Kidd) Burtis. She married William Toureene on November 28, 1936, in Peoria, Illinois. William passed away on November 27, 1986.
Lydia loved celebrating Christmas with the family, she enjoyed playing bingo and enjoyed playing games of chance at the casino. Above all she loved spending time and talking to her many grandchildren.
Lydia is survived by five daughters, Patricia (Gerald) Schaffer of Peoria, IL, Peggy Elliot of Peoria, IL, Charlene Brondyke of Clinton, IA, Penny (David) Harksen of Clinton, IA, Ray (Tommy) Naughton of Clinton, IA; one son, Harry (Mary) Toureene of Fulton, IL; nineteen grandchildren; fifty-seven great-grandchildren; twenty-eight great-great-grandchildren; special neighbors, Jackie, Dick and Bob, Rick and Nancy, Kathy and special friend, Betty.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband several brothers and sisters, her grandson Larry Brown Jr., and her beloved dog, Sophie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family.
