Brewmaster Dies.
August Tiesse, 63, veteran brewmaster, formerly of Clinton, died at 4 o’clock Sunday afternoon in the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Topal, 1413 Jonquil Terrace, Chicago, following a several months’ illness.
The body will repose until 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Hammond chapel, 6959 North Clark street. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 o’clock in Graceland cemetery, followed by cremation.
Mr. Tiesse was born in the old town of Lyons, Sept. 16, 1871, a son of the late John and Caroline Tiesse. For many years he served as brewmaster when the present brewery was operated by the Clinton Brewing Co., and again served in that capacity at its reopening last year as the Pointer Brewing Co. He had an excellent reputation as a brewmaster.
Besides his daughter, Mrs. Norma Topal, two grandchildren, Richard and Paula Topal, of Chicago, one brother, Emil Tiesse of Anaconda, Mont., a sister-in-law, Mrs. Mollie Tiesse, a brother-in-law, L. P. Tritschler and a nephew, Ralph Tiesse, of this city.
Mr. Tritschler and Ralph Tiesse will attend the funeral tomorrow.
