Erma R. Cornelius, 97, of Goose Lake, Iowa; died Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the Alverno Health Care Facility.

Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Charlotte with Rev. Terry Ellis officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Spragueville. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons: Larry Dammerman, Darwin Harrington, Eric Harrington, Curtis Murphy, Douglas Murphy, Kage Murphy, and Patrick Harrington. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Dammerman and Brad Dammerman. Visitation will be from 9:00am to the service time Wednesday at the church. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Erma Rosie Berg was born on September 5, 1913 in Preston, Iowa, the daughter of Justus and Margaretha (Mohr) Berg. She was a graduate of Preston High School.

She married Glen G. Cornelius on April 18, 1946 in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa; he later died in October 1969. She worked side by side with her husband on the farm for many years.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Charlotte. She enjoyed gardening, raising her chickens, milking her cows and cooking. She loved to play cards at the senior centers.

She is survived by three daughters: Barbara Woodby of Weiser, Idaho, Beverly (Melvin) Goffinet of Dubuque, Iowa, and Bonnie (Alan) Murphy of Camanche, Iowa; one son: Larry (Linda) Cornelius of Goose Lake, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren; one sister: Margaret Betle of Maquoketa, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, one sister, and one great-great grandson.
