Nellie L. McPeck, 88, of Clinton, died Friday, March 11, 2011 at the Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, Illinois.

Graveside Services will be 11:00am, Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Heim, Robert Story, Larry Kleinschmidt, Edward Kleinschmidt, Tom Berry, and Mike Holiday. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00am to 10:45 am at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory.

Nellie Louise Young was born on May 26, 1922 on Beaver Island, the daughter of George and Maude (Isdel) Young.

She was employed at the Candyland Restaurant and then at the Clinton Garment Factory for 43 years. She provided home health care in private homes for many of the elderly. She also worked in the concession stand at Riverview Stadium.

Nellie’s greatest talent was baking wonderful sweets and made the best Blarney Stones that everyone loved. An expert at sewing, she made many items and special quilts for her children and other quilt tops with special friends. She was also a past member of the Moose.

She is survived by two daughters: Peggy (Joe) Coburn of Colville, Washington, and Shelia (Gerald) Heim of Clinton; three grandsons, one granddaughter, three great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, three brothers, and one granddaughter.

Memorials can be made to the family.
