The Clinton Herald; December 23, 1929; Page 12 James S. Holleran, 1731 North Second street, passed away Saturday evening at Mercy hospital at 6 o'clock, following a several weeks illness. Funeral services were held this morning with requiem Mass at St. Irenaeus church at 9 o'clock. The pallbearers were B.E. Brandt, L.B. Brandt, J.W. Campbell, E.P. Delaney, W.J. Keefe and John E. Purcell. Interment was in Calvary cemetery. James S. Holleran was born in County Clare, Ireland, December 26, 1844 and immigrated with his parents to Canada in 1848 and in 1855 came to Fulton, Ill. He moved to this city in 1895 and has lived in this vicinity ever since. He engaged in steamboating on the Mississippi for many years and during the gold rush in Alaska he followed his vocation of steamboating on the Yukon river. He was a partner in the hardware business with John Downs at Fulton, Ill., for several years and also proprietor of the Holleran House in that city. He was married at Fulton, Ill., May 28, 1865 to Miss Adelis O'Connor, who passed away January 12, 1915; and he was married again on April 28, 1919 to Mrs. Anna Schofield who survives him, also the following children; Mrs. W.F. Murdoch and F.L. Holleran of this city, Mrs. B.E. Corliss of Eagle Grove and Mrs. C.L. Prentiss of Omaha, Nebr.
