Mervin D. “Bud” Fletcher, 72, of Clinton, died Friday, July 30, 2010 at Mercy Living Center South in Clinton.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Clinton AMVETS post #28. Serving as pallbearers are four of Mervin’s grandsons: Richard, Robert, Antonio, and Austin; his nephew Michael Johnson; and a special friend Ernest Mesa. Visitation will be 4-8 pm, Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mervin Duane Fletcher was born April 15, 1938 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Mervin L. and Emily (Holgerson) Fletcher. He married Lavonne Miller on May 29, 1965 in Clinton.

He worked for DuPont for 33 years in production, maintenance, and as a technician, retiring in 1996. He was a 1956 Clinton High School graduate. He attended Clinton Community College for two years and he also attended MaComb Community College. He served in the United States Army National Guard from 1958 to 1965.

Bud was a member of the Clinton AMVETS, the Moose Lodge, and Fulton Country Club. He enjoyed bowling and golfing.

He is survived by his wife: Lavonne; three daughters: Heidi Page of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; Robin Cendejas of Yuma, Arizona; and Dawn Hawkins of Temecula, California; seven grandchildren: Melissa; Mariah; Richard; Lee; Robert; Antonio; and Austin; three sisters: Joyce Tripp of Camanche; Donna (Don) Johnson of Clinton; and Karen (Dennis) Carlsen of Camanche; and many nieces and nephews.

Mervin was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Richard Masters, Jr., and brother-in-law, Kenneth Tripp.

Memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
