8/11/1931 - 7/17/2010Clinton, Iowa - Robert D. Keister age 78 of Clinton, died Saturday July 17, 2010 at Mercy North Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Wednesday July 21st at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday 4 – 7 pm and Wednesday 9:30 am until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Casket bearers will be his grandchildren. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
Robert was born on Aug. 11, 1931 in Lyons, IA, the son of William and Marcella (Baker) Keister. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1949. Robert married Jackie Morgan in 1951 in Clinton, she died in 2005. He worked as a line technician for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Clinton for over 34 years and was a driver for Southgate Motors for over 22 years.
Robert was a member and past president of the Clinton Bowling Association, where he was a member of 700 Club and Clinton Hall of Fame. He was a lifetime member of the Communication Workers of America Union. He was a board member of the former Clinton Nee-His Drum and Bugle Corps. Robert enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, bowling, and playing cards.
Robert is survived by his four daughters, Linda (Toby) Whipple of Muskego, WI, Pam (Andy) Tadlock of Davenport, Mary (Jeff) Stephenson of Clinton, and Jenny (Brian) Barnhart of Lenexa, KS; four sons, Jeff (Rhonda) Keister, Dan (Sue) Keister, Kevin (Tracy) Keister, and Tim (Casey) Keister all of Clinton; 22 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis (Tom) Pladna of Fulton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, son, granddaughter, a sister, and a brother.
