Eleanora Burhop

Wheatland. Eleanora Burhop, age 93, of Wheatland, Iowa, died Friday, December 6, 2009, at Wheatland Manor Nursing Home. She was born on a farm seven miles southwest of Lowden, June 8, 1916, to Edwin Becker and Anna Krueger. She married Lawrence Burhop June 1, 1939, at the parsonage of St. Paul's Lutheran Church-Bennett. He died in 1991.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden, Iowa, with Reverend Victor Young officiating. Burial will follow at the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 11, until the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Wheatland Manor Nursing Home, Wheatland Ambulance, or Trinity Lutheran Cemetery may be made.

Eleanora attended country school in Springfield Township and Trinity Lutheran School. She and her husband farmed southwest of Lowden until moving to Wheatland in 1954. For 11 years she worked in the kitchen of Mac's Triangle in Wheatland. She enjoyed the outdoors, walking, gardening, and flowers. Eleanora was a former member of St.Paul's Lutheran Church in Bennett and currently a member of Trinity Lutheran in Lowden.

Eleanora is survived by 2 daughters: Barbara (Lynn) Carroll of Gilbert, Arizona, and Marcia Burhop of Dewitt; grandsons Justin and Jarrod Carroll; a great-granddaughter MacKenzie Carroll; and brother Alvin Becker of Tipton. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Ralph Becker, and sisters Irene Conrad and Norma Deerberg.
