Robert R. Stankee

Wheatland. Robert R. Stankee, age 87, of Wheatland, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 15, 2009. Robert was born October 3, 1921, in Davenport, Iowa to Paul W. Stankee and Florence Stevenson. Robert Married Dolores(Dotty) Shelton in 1948.

Robert graduated from Wheatland High School in 1939. He attended business college and Spartan School of Aeronautics and worked for Bendix Aviation in Philadelphia until he joined the Air Force during World War II. He served most of the time in China-Burma-India Theatre at an airforce base near Calcutta till his discharge in 1946. From 1946 until retirement in 1984 he was part owner of P.W. Stankee Company, Inc, a farm equipment wholesaler and retailer. His hobbies included boating on the Mississippi River. He and Dotty spent a lot of time on their boats, especially their houseboat. His other hobby was painting, he entered a lot of art shows from 1980 on and won many awards.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, July 18, 2009, at St. Paul's United Church Of Christ in Wheatland, Iowa, with Reverend Lynne Bisson officiating. Following the services his body will be cremated with inurnment in Pine Hill Cemetery in Wheatland at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4:30-7:00pm on Friday, July 17, at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland. A memorial fund has been established.

Robert is survived by his wife Dolores; son Bob(Jacque) of Camdenton, Mo; daughter Jana(Jeff) Goettsch of Lowden; six grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by Parents, brothers Paul and Glen, and sister Shirley.
