Mary Hamilton

Wheatland. Mary R. Hamilton, 84, of Wheatland, Iowa died February 4, 2006 of a lengthy illness at Wheatland Manor Nursing Home.

Mary Hamilton was born on May 30, 1921 in Maquoketa, Iowa to Ivan Edward Michael and Laura Morgan Edson. Mary Hamilton was married on February 21, 1941 in a private ceremony at St. John Methodist in Davenport. Her husband died in 1982.

Mary was a Rainbow girl and campfire girl when growing up in Maquoketa. She graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1939. She worked at Dewitt Hospital, Wheatland Manor, supervisor of the Homemaker/Health Aides of Clinton County and retired in 1986 from supervisor of Dietary at Mercy Hospital in Clinton. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church of Calamus, taught Sunday school for some years,served several offices in United Methodist Soceity. She was a member of Springrock Homemakers, Senior Citizens and volunteered at the Osteopathic Hospital after retiring. She enjoyed her loving family, friends and relatives and also having flowers always around her. Her and her husband had farmed south of Calamus.

Visitation is from 4:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland Iowa. The funeral service will be held at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. Pastor Nancy Bender and Pastor Gene Miller will be officiating. Burial will be at Elwood Cemetery.

Mary Hamilton is survived by two sons, David (Sue) of Wheatland and Michael of Wheatland; one Daughter, Margaret (Tom) Vetter of Grand Mound; 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.
