DeWitt — DEWITT — Lois M. (Mrs. Orville) Wold, 91, DeWitt, died Wednesday afternoon, March 24, 2010, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.

Lois Margaret Wold was born July 18, 1918, at rural DeWitt to John and Sophia (Christiansen) Weber. She went to work in Clinton as a babysitter and while there met Orville Wold. They later married July 26, 1937, in Dubuque. The couple farmed in Wisconsin and moved back to DeWitt in 1952. They then operated Wold’s Shell Service in DeWitt. Orville preceded Lois in death March 31, 1973. She later married Jimmy Gundelfinger and he preceded her in death. Lois worked for Helene’s Fashion Center, DeWitt, retiring in 1996.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt. She enjoyed people, playing cards and sitting out in her driveway with neighbors in the summertime. Lois also loved crocheting and baking cookies for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to whom she was known as “Grandma Cookie.”

Surviving are her children, David (Barb) Wold, DeWitt, Jack (Cindy) Wold, Donahue, Rodney (Diane) Wold and Sharon Wold, DeWitt; three granddaughters, Denise Wold, Julie (Troy) Thornburg and Lisa (Josh) Ivanoff and Laura Wold Norcross; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jared Wold and Kayla Wold.

Preceding Lois in death were grandsons, Doug, Dennis and John Wold; a great-grandson, Justin Wold; a sister, Lisetta Gibson; and a brother, Lyle Weber.

Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2010. A service of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010, in Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt. The Rev. Brad A. Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. Memorials are suggested to Grace Lutheran Church Preschool.

Pallbearers will be Joshua and Jared Wold, Troy Thornburg, Dixon Novy, William Fatchett and Michael Wildes. Honorary pallbearer will be Joshua Ivanhoff.
