CLINTON — BIG SPRING, Texas — Richard Dennis Schroeder, age 60, formerly of Clinton, Iowa, died Sunday, March 7, 2010, at his home in Big Spring, Texas.

Richard was born July 3, 1949, the son of Leroy J. and Earlene Brown Schroeder in Clinton, IA. He was educated in the Clinton School District and graduated from Clinton High School in 1968. He joined the Army shortly thereafter and served 2 terms, both in Korea. After leaving the Army he worked for the railroad in Clinton. He then attended a Trade School in Arizona for the Printing Business before moving to Texas.

Survivors include 2 sisters, Carolyn Schroeder Elliott of Camanche, IA, and Marlys Schroeder Jenkin of West Jersey, IL; 1 brother, Gary (Bonnie) Schroeder of Pearland, TX; and sister-in-law Kathleen Schroeder, of Camanche, IA. He is also survived by 5 nephews, Timothy (Colleen) Dunn, Vincennes, IN, David (Elleree) Schroeder, Camanche, IA, Matthew Jenkin, Kewanee, IL, Mark (Brandy) Schroeder, Fulton, IL, Greg (Kim) Schroeder, Camanche, IA; 4 nieces, Michelle (Kevin) Andresen, Camanche, IA, Jaci Greene, Orange, TX, Kelly (Shawn) McDermott, Missouri City, TX, Shannon (Bryan) Corry, Park Hill, OK; and several great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Leroy and Earlene, brother David and brother-in-law Clifton Jenkin.

A memorial service is pending at a later date with burial at the Rock Island National Cemetery.
