BETTENDORF — Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Cindi L. Simmons, 55, a resident of Bettendorf, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will take place in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Cindi died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, following a brief illness.

Cindi Louise Voltz was born on July 30, 1954, in Davenport, a daughter of Rick Voltz and Patsy (Spitzmiller) Keehner. She had been faithfully married to Jim Simmons for over 30 years.

Cindi worked for the government for over 36 years. Her first 23 years were in the Army Industrial Operations Command with her remaining 13 years supporting the Information Management Directorate at the Army Joint Munitions Command located on the Rock Island Arsenal. Over the span of her career she held many positions to include her support to Information Assurance and Records Management, just to name a few. Always wanting to do what she could to support the soldier, she deployed three times oversees and was in the process of preparing for a fourth deployment. This was very important to her and she was extremely proud of being able to do her part. For these and many other contributions she made over her career, her efforts were recognized by numerous performance awards and letters of appreciation, but to Cindi, none compared to the satisfaction she received from working with her customers in the field. For her personal sacrifice and dedication to the soldiers in the field, she was awarded a framed commendation, along with her picture displayed on JMC’s Wall of Fame.

Cindi was a hard worker, her attention to detail was next to none, she gave her best to whatever she was assigned to do and was always willing to contribute whenever she could. Because of this and so much more, she will be sorely missed by all of those she came in contact with over her career. Cindi enjoyed working with several charitable organizations over the years including her annual commitment to Toys for Tots, but her greatest joy in life came from spending time with her children, especially her grandson, Keegan.

Memorials may be made to the Red Cross or the American Cancer Society.

Cindi is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Simmons (Justin Forsyth), Bettendorf; a son, Brad Simmons, Davenport; a grandson, Keegan Forsyth; her mother, Patsy Keehner; sisters, Sheri (Tom) Carnahan, Davenport, and Lori (E.J. Renfro) Zubroski, Arizona; a brother, Marc (Cia) Voltz, Fairfax, VA; as well as numerous extended family.
