CLINTON — Funeral services for Austin W. Shontz III and Victoria "Vicky" S. Shontz, both 68 and of Clinton, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 15, 2009, at the Evangelical Free Church, Clinton, Iowa. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the church. Vicky died Wednesday, October 7, 2009, in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; Austin died Saturday, October 10, 2009, in Iowa City, Iowa. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Victoria S. Shew was born on August 9, 1941, in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of Harold and Vivian (Wendelboe) Shew. Austin W. Shontz III was born on September 19, 1941, in DeWitt, Iowa, the son of Austin and Gertrude (Schlotfeldt) Shontz, II. Vicky and Austin were married for 47 years, celebrating their anniversary on May 26, 1962. They were married in Clinton, Iowa. Vicky was a basket-weaving instructor, an optician assistant for Optical Dispensary, and was a church secretary at the Evangelical Free Church. Austin was employed at International Paper as a production manager until the plant closed. He was currently employed as a bus driver with the Clinton M.T.A. Vicky was active at the Evangelical Free Church in Clinton, Temple Hearts and the Quilt Club. She enjoyed knitting, reading, traveling and volunteering at the Arboretum. Austin enjoyed traveling, relaxing on the Mississippi River and spending time with his grandson and family. They are survived by a son, Austin (Gloria) Shontz of Savannah, Georgia, a daughter, Holly (Nathan) Stitt of Holts Summit, Missouri; one grandson, Michael Stitt; Austin's sister, Sandra Foreman of DeWitt, Iowa; and Austin's aunt, Bernice Schlotfeldt of DeWitt, Iowa. They were both preceded in death by their parents. Memorials can be made to Sam's Helping Hand or the Evangelical Free Church.
