ALBANY, Ill. — Lois Ann Abbott, 76, of Albany, died Monday, August, 24, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2009, at the Albany United Methodist Church, Albany, IL. The Rev. David W. Davies Jr., pastor of Albany United Methodist Church, will be officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2009, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Private family interment will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery, Clinton, IA. Memorials may be made to Albany United Methodist Church, Albany, IL. She was born April 2, 1933, in LaHarpe, IL, to Walter M. and Theresa (Paarman) Rigby. She was educated in Clinton grade schools and was a graduate of Clinton High School, Clinton, IA. She married Donald L. "Duke" Abbott, on December 22, 1951, in Camp LeJeune, NC; he survives. Lois was a homemaker. She was a member of Albany United Methodist Church, Albany, IL, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Albany American Legion Auxiliary. Lois enjoyed reading, sewing, crafting and traveling with her family. She was known as an outstanding cook and pie baker. Survivors include her husband, Duke Abbott; two daughters, Mindy (Rex) Stratton of Clinton, IA, and Rebecca (Ron) Wells of Overland Park, KS; two sons, Michael (Claudia) Abbott of Clinton, IA, and Timothy (Tess) Abbott of Austin, TX; seven grandchildren, Hannah Stratton; Joshua, Kaitlin, Tessa Abigial, Olivia and Emma Grace Wells, Alexandria Abbott; and one sister, Birdina (Glen) Voris of North Manchester, IN.
