CAMANCHE — Lyle Curt Baker, 58, passed away peacefully in his sleep at 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning August 2, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton. Memorial services will be 7:00 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2009, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until the service time at the funeral home. Born in Clinton, Iowa, on September 2, 1950, to Darwin and Dorothy (Bates) Baker. He was formerly employed with Olsen Engineering in Eldridge, Iowa. He liked to describe himself as stoic. He never quit until he got the job done. He fought the good fight with cancer, until he could no more. Always kind, always helpful, and quick with a joke. He loved his family, his Harley, fishing, and his ol girl of 25 years: Sandy Chandler Green. He leaves behind a brother, Dale (Margie) Baker; a sister, Kathy (Bob) Kimmer; a daughter, Hope Esparza; two sons, Tony Baker and Brian Hardy; five grandchildren, one great-grandson, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He will be sorely missed by those who were blessed to have him in their lives. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Teresa Baker.
