MORRISON, Ill. — Robert S. Tucker, 90, 300 Ash Ave., Morrison, died Thursday, July 9, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, Iowa. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2009, at the Morrison Chapel - Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Steve Harmon, director of Youth Ministries at Open Bible Fellowship, Morrison, will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Minta Cemetery, Fulton, Ill., with graveside military funeral honors. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society and Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He was born Aug. 29, 1918, in Clinton to Henry S. and Elizabeth J. (Slaymaker) Tucker. Bob was educated in the Spring Creek Grade School of rural Whiteside County. He attended Fulton High School and was a graduate of Erie High School, Erie, Ill. He married Wilma L. Dykhuizen on Aug. 18, 1942, in Erie. She died July 14, 2003. He married Dorothy L. Bailey-Dykhuizen on Nov. 26, 2005, in Garden Plain, Ill. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was engaged in farming in the Garden Plain Township area his entire life and also was employed by International Paper Company, Clinton, retiring in 1980. He was a member at large of the American Legion, the National Rifle Association and was a founding member of the Tri-Township Heritage Society. He enjoyed gardening, fox hunting and bird watching. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Linda (John) Port, Morrison, and Laurie (Mark) Spain, Winnebago, Ill.; five sons, Robert "Gene" (Jeanie) Tucker, Dallas, Wis., Edward Tucker and Sandy Huisenga of Fulton, Charles (Liz) Tucker, Fulton, James (Darlene) Tucker, Albany, Ill., and John (Mary) Tucker, Fulton; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Tucker, Fenton, Ill.; two stepdaughters, Nadine Morgan, Mount Morris, Ill., and Lois (Art) Barnhart, Dixon, Ill.; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, Harold (Annabelle) Tucker, Fulton, Ill.He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma; a son, William Tucker; a stepson, Richard Dykhuizen; and one granddaughter, Amanda Spain.Send online condolences to www.bosmarenkes.com.Death date: July 9, 2009.
