CLINTON — Donald F. Ekland, 68, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 24, 2009, at the Lemke Funeral Homes South Chapel, 2610 Manufacturing Dr. Visitation will be from 9 – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be his nephews, and the honorary pallbearer will be Paul C. Hansen. Pastor Schauer from the Chancy Lutheran Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Springdale Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society and the Benevolent Society. Donald Francis Ekland was born November 23, 1940, in Clinton. He was the son of Frank and Helen (Hansen) Ekland. Donald graduated from the class of 1960 at the Clinton High School. He worked at the International Paper Company as an operator for 15 years. He was a member of the Chancy Lutheran Church and the Chancy Senior Citizens Association. Survivors are his 3 sisters, Linda ( Robert) Pennock, Barb (Lynn) Traver and Paula (Chuck) Mallory, all of Clinton, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and loving cousins.
