CLINTON — Virginia R. Stanford, 87, of Clinton, Iowa, died Sunday, June 21, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospital. Services will be held at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory on Thursday, June 25, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Tom E. Fuller, Nathan Fuller, Joshua Fuller and Zachary Stancil; and nephews, Kenneth Hall and Maurice Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles (Skeeter) Herrity and William McClain. Virginia was born January 23, 1922, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Oliver and Anna (Zerrien) Herrity. She attended the Clinton schools and was a 1940 graduate of Clinton High. She was a homemaker and had been employed at Burpee Seed Company for 10 years. Virginia Herrity married Paul E. Stanford September 9, 1940, in Dubuque, Iowa; he preceded her in death on October 26, 1991. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Clinton Women's Bowling Association. She enjoyed crocheting, bowling and sports, especially the Cubs. Survivors include her daughters, Joyce (Stephen) Hartman and Paula (Thomas) Dopson both of Clinton, IA; grandchildren, Theresa (John Leab) Stancil, Tiffany (Allen) Phillips, Tom E. (Amy) Fuller, Amber (Jeff) Trenkamp and Ashley (Nate) Kreinbrink; great-grandchildren, Josh, Nate and Samantha Fuller, Brittany and Zach Stancil, Kyle and Seth Phillips, Alysse Trenkamp, Alijah Dopson and Emerson Kreinbrink; great-great-grandchildren, Addilyn Fuller and Olyver and Hayzel Fuller; and her special friend, William "Uncle Willie" Reafsnider of Clinton. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Chuck Herrity; and her sister, Annabelle Gundelfinger. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
