Baker, Terry Lee View/Sign Guest Book

April 25, 1941 to June 15, 2009CANYON LAKE, Texas — Terry Lee Baker, 68, of Canyon Lake, Texas, died Monday, June 15, 2009, of natural causes, peacefully in his camper in the loving care of his amazing wife. Private services were held with his immediate family. Terry Baker was born April 25, 1941, in Sabula, Iowa. He was the last baby to be delivered in Sabula, the only island-town of Iowa, before births eventually became procedural in near-by larger cities. He was the son of Milford Baker and Dorothy (Schoville) Rogers, and devoted stepfather, Benjamin Rogers. He graduated from Sabula High School in 1959. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in which he served as an air-traffic controller. His service included a tour in Vietnam and later he resided in Los Angeles, continuing his service to his country as a police officer. Terry later moved to Chicago, Illinois, after his brief service with the police department, beginning his new career with the printing industry. While in Chicago he married Linda Ann (Siegenthaler) Baker on March 25, 1971, and soon after had their first two children, Terri Lynn Baker and Richard Marshall Baker. Terry took a sabbatical from the printing industry and began driving for Continental Trailways, often taking his baby daughter with him among his excursions. Eventually Terry found himself back in the printing industry after many adventures on the road. In 1976, Terry welcomed his third child, Joseph Earl Baker, into this world. Through much perseverance he successfully fulfilled the requirements of barber school and opened his own barber shop in Sabula, Iowa with the help of his supportive family. Terry then pursued many other dreams throughout his life, living for every moment and supporting his family along the way. He enjoyed traveling (including 5 years in Europe), camping, fishing, golf, Volksmarching, wood carving, inventing, socializing and loving his family. Terry found balance with life, an ability to be an amazing father and a best friend to his children. He was a devoted husband and bestowed priceless values to his family. Mr. Baker is survived by wife, Linda Ann (Siegenthaler) Baker of 38 years; daughter, Terri (Baker) Cureton; sons, Richard Baker and Joseph Baker, sister, Gwen Perrewe; and brothers, Milford Baker and Roger Baker; half brother, Glenn Baker; son-in-law, Lew Cureton; daughters-in-law, Erica (Paz) Baker and Dona (Carter) Baker; and 6 grandchildren, Rachel, Rebecca, Austin, Eric, Lucas and Hana. He is preceded in death by his parents, stepfather; and brother, Gordon Baker. Memorials and contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and/or local Hospice. Death date: June 15, 2009
