AMARILLO, Texas — Viola "Vi" Smith, 64, of Amarillo, died on Tuesday, June 2, 2009.Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2009, at the Mescalero Baptist Church with Kevin Oakley, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.Mrs. Smith was born on September 4, 1944, in Sabula, Iowa, to Ed and Edith Roberson. She moved to Texas in 1971 and married Moody Smith on June 23, 1986, in Amarillo. She was a member of the Mescalero Baptist Church.Survivors include her husband, Moody Smith of the home; two daughters, Brenda Fawell and husband, Pat, of Amarillo, Becky Pinson and husband, David, of Amarillo; a son, Michael Smith and wife, Naomi, of Lubbock; two brothers, Bob Roberson of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Cliff Roberson of Sabula, Iowa; three sisters, Rose Belk of Iowa, Virginia Ross of Marion, Iowa, and Mickey Armstrong of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; grandchildren, Mark and Deanna Sowers, David and Jayme Sowers, Kari and Kevin McNally, Justin and Tracie Pinson, Tyler Pinson, Jason and Amber Smith, Jeffrey and Sheryl Smith, Chris and Sarah Smith; and eight great-grandchildren.Family suggests memorials be made to Mescalero Baptist Church, 13330 Mescalero Trail, Amarillo, Texas 79118.Death date: June 2, 2009
