Tuesday September 9, 1958 p. 9 Julius Rathje, 80, died at 8 p.m. Monday in his home at 3534 Cleveland St. The body is in the Pape funeral home where services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday. Rev. M.S. Bredow, pastor of Zion Lutheran church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 7 p.m. today. Mr. Rathje was born in Elk River township Aug. 10, 1878, the son of Christian and Carolina Schroeder Rathje. He was married March 26, 1902, in Clinton to Mary A. Roeder. He farmed in Clinton county for many years and moved to Clinton in 1935. He was baptised and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. George (Amy) Kerr, Clinton; one son, Lewis Rathje, Clinton; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Peter Jurgensen, Claremont, Minn., and Mrs. O.K. Thers, Clinton; one brother, Carl Rathje , Clinton, and several nieces and nephews. His parents, wife, two sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.
