The Clinton Herald Monday January 22, 1940 p. 3 Mrs. James Mielk, 60, resident of this community all her life, died at 9 o'clock Sunday morning in her home, following a lingering illness. The body reposes in the home where the Rev. Mr. Goodrich of the Miles Federated church will conduct services at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial wil be in Center Grove cemetery. Emma Kruetzfeldt was born April 3, 1879, in Bryant, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kruetzfeldt, and was married Dec. 24, 1902, to James Mielk. She was a member of the Federated church and of Alpine camp, R.N.A. Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Albert Ploen of Miles and Miss Velma Mielk at home; three grandchildren, and brother-in-law, Chris Mielk, who has made his home in the James Mielk residence. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Charles and Emil, and a son, Earnee.
