Obituary
Mrs. Rose Hughes Kinney was born in Ireland in the year 1831 and died at her home in Berlin township July 13th, 1908. The deceased came to this country when a young girl and after a few years was united in marriage to Thomas Kinney to which union were born 12 children of which 11 still survive.

Mr. and Mrs. Kinney were early pioneer settlers of Clinton county, settling in Berlin township in an early day and were compeled to suffer many of the hardships so common to early settlers. Besides raising a large family they succeeded in procuring for themselves a fine farm and comfortable home. Mr. Kinney preceeded her to the great beyond nearly four years ago, since which time Mrs. Kinney was a patient sufferer from the dread disease, dropsy which she quietly endured until the last. She was born and raised in the Catholic faith which faith was a great comfort to her in declining years.

The deceased leaves to mourn her death 11 children. The funeral services were held at the Hughes' settlement Catholic church Wednesday Rev. Father McNamara officiating with interment int he Catholic cemetery of that place.
