Velma Durkop 05/10/2002 MAQUOKETA, Iowa -- Services for Velma C. Durkop, Maquoketa, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Carson & Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, rural Maquoketa. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Durkop died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at Maquoketa Care Center. She was a homemaker. Velma Elkins was born Feb. 22, 1915, in Jackson County. She married John Durkop in 1938 in Maquoketa. He died in 1994. Memorials may be made to the Velma C. Durkop Memorial Fund. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Herrig, LaMotte; son, Duane, Monmouth; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Vera Pavlista, Maquoketa.
