Clarence Dirks 05/11/2002 CLINTON, Iowa -- Clarence W. Dirks, Clinton, died Friday, May 10, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center-North Campus, Clinton. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Clinton Chapel of Snell-Zornig-Dennis A. Lemke Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Military services will be conducted. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Dirks was employed more than 35 years as a instrament mechanic at Dupont. He retired in 1982. He was born March 27, 1923, in Center Junction. He married Wilma Brown in 1948 in Clinton. He died in 1987. During World War II, he served with the Army Air Corps. in the South Pacific Theater of War. Memorials may be made to AMVETS Post 28. Survivors include his special friend, Phyllis Rettkowski, with whom he resided; a son, Robert, Clinton; and sisters, Edna Thomas, Clinton, and Ruth Gerdes, Dixon, Ill.
