Charles Evans 04/03/2002 NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa -- Services for Charles "Chuck" Evans, North Liberty, will be 10:30 a.m. today at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Iowa City. Visitation is 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery, North Liberty. Mrs. Evans died March 29, 2002, at University Hospitals, Iowa City, after a battle with cancer. Gay and Ciha Funeral Home, Iowa City, is in charge of arrangements. He worked for a time as a deputy sheriff in Winnebago County, Ill., and remained a life-long supporter of law enforcement. He helped charter the first Blue Knights Motorcycle Club Chapter in Clinton with his friend and Clinton Police Officer David Gorman. After working in the Rockford, Ill., area, he moved to Clinton, where he was a president and co-owner of Nelson Cashway Lumber Co. In 1991, he moved to the Iowa City area and founded Century Roofing Co., Coralville. He was born Jan. 31, 1946, in Rockford. Survivors include his wife, Candance; daughters, Stacey, Cedar Rapids, and Shelly, North Liberty; sons, Christopher, Clinton, Jason, of rural Williamsburg, and Shawn, Galesburg, Ill.; four grandchildren; sisters, Mary McDonnell, Clinton, and Cathie LaForge, of Oregon; and brother, Robert Sr., Clinton.
