Byron Van Fleet 08/01/1999 CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Byron "Van" Van Fleet, of 830 4th Ave. S., will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Clinton Chapel of Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery, with military services by American Legion Post 190. Mr. Van Fleet died Friday, July 30, 1999, at Mercy Medical Center-North, Clinton. He was employed many years as a salesman at Jorgensen Maytag Co., Clinton. He also was employed as a bellman at the former Hotel LaFayette and Holiday Inn, both in Clinton. He was born Sept. 2, 1909, in Newton Township, Whiteside County. During World War II, he served as a corporal in the Army. Memorials may be made to Leadership Institute, 8001 Braddock Road, Suite 502, Springfield, VA 22151. Survivors include a sister, Mavorett Van Fleet, and his care giver, Betty Heppner, both of Clinton.
