James Wiggins 04/26/1999 ROCK ISLAND -- Services for James R. Wiggins, of Rock Island, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Knox-Larson Funeral Home, Rock Island. A Committal service will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Union Cemetery, Clinton County, where the burial will be. Visitation is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Wiggins died Friday, April 23, 1999, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. He received his bachelor's degree in science at Augustana College in1961. He was official-in-charge for the National Weather Service, Moline, retiring Feb. 2, 1990, after 34 years. He was a member of Memorial Heights United Methodist Church, Rock Island, and a Sunday school teacher. He also was a girls softball coach, in Rock Island. He enjoyed photography, genealogy, and traveling. He was born April 29, 1933, in Indianapolis, the son of Robert and Evelyn (Matney) Wiggins. He married Jeanette Miller on Sept. 17, 1955, in Delmar. During the Korean Conflict he served in the U.S. Air Force. Memorials may be made to one's favorite charity. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette; daughters and son-in-law, Karla and Larry Harris, Walnut Creek, Calif., Kristi Wiggins, St. Ann, Mo.; sons and daughter-in-law, Randy and Sheila Wiggins, Casper, Wyo. and Scott Wiggins, Englewood, Colo.; grandchildren, Amelia, James and Charles Wiggins, all of Casper, Wyo., and Andrea Aragon, St. Ann, Mo.; and two sisters and one brother, including Roberta Cunningham, Muscatine, Iowa.
