MORRISON, Ill. — Dorothy R. Hook, 92, of Morrison, died Saturday, December 6, 2008, at Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, Ill.Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 11, 2008, at the Emmanuel Reformed Church, Morrison, IL. The Rev. Jeff McIlrath, pastor of Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison, Ill., will be officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, Ill.Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Reformed Church, Morrison, Ill.She was born March 3, 1916, in Maurice, IA, to Abel J. and Lena (Arendsen) Renkes.Dorothy was a graduate of Morrison High School, Morrison, Ill.She married William Hook on August 25, 1936, in Morrison, Ill. He died March 5, 1991.She was a self-employed beautician in Erie, Ill., for many years. She was a charter member of Emmanuel Reformed Church, Morrison, Ill., and the church’s Ruth Circle and Missionary Society. She enjoyed participating in a Wednesday Card Club. Dorothy served as organist for St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, Morrison, Ill. Her hobbies included painting scenery pictures, a hobby she was introduced to by her sister, Eleanor. Survivors include one daughter, Beth (Rev. Henry) Elgersma of Lansing, Ill.; three sons, Phil (Joyce) Hook of Fulton, Ill., Ted (Karen) Hook of Livingston, TX, and Steve (Norma) Hook of Holland, MI; one daughter-in-law, Esther Hook of Wenona, Ill.; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Eleanor (Benjamin) Hinkson of Springfield, Mo; and one brother, Arthur Renkes of Longwood, FL.She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, in infancy; one son, Dan Hook.To send online condolences go to www.bosmarenkes.com.Death date: Dec. 6, 2008
