FULTON, Ill. — Wilbert K. “Wilb” Heun, 77, of Fulton, died Sunday December 21, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, IA. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2008, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. The Rev. Edie Lenz, pastor of First Reformed Church in Fulton, will be officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2008, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be in Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL, with graveside military funeral honors.Memorials will be established.He was born May 12, 1931, in Fulton, IL, to Dewey and Stella (Tenboer) Heun.He was educated at the Spring Creek Grade School in Garden Plain Township. He attended Fulton High School, Fulton, IL.He married Mildred J. VanZuiden on March 4, 1955, in Fulton, IL. She survives. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.He was first engaged in farming in the Garden Plain area of rural Fulton. He then was employed by the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad as a fork lift operator in the stores department for 30 years retiring in 1995. He was a former member of the Newton-Zion Reformed Church, Erie, IL. He was a current member of First Reformed Church, Fulton, IL, served as usher, deacon and member of the church property committee. After his retirement in 1995, he continued to help his son with farming which he loved dearly. He enjoyed being outdoors and had a close bond with his son and grandchildren. His hobbies included hunting, trapping, gardening, walking, riding the bike path and reading. Wilbert was a 19-gallon blood donor for the Red Cross. He was a humble Christian man who loved his Lord and always found that helping others in need was his joy. Wilb and Millie enjoyed 54 years together and recently enjoyed traveling together. Survivors include his wife, Millie; one son, Steve (Sharon) Heun of Fulton, IL; grandchildren, Andrew Heun; Benjamin (Amanda) Heun; Emma Heun; one sister, Dorothy (Tom) Bailey, Bettendorf, IA; and two brothers, Marvin (Dolores) Heun of Fulton, IL, and Alvin (Phyllis) Heun, Fulton, IL.He was preceded in death by his parents.To send online condolences go to www.bosmarenkes.com.Death date: Dec. 21, 2008
