SILVIS, Ill. — Walter R. Griffith, 69, of Silvis died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at Illini Restorative Care in Silvis. Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary in Colona (formerly Family Funeral Services). Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens East Moline. Visitation is from noon to service time. Walter was born October 11, 1939, in Whitewell, TN, the son of Alvis and Alice Meeks Griffith. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his children Vickie Shepard and Steve Griffith both of Clinton, IA, and Paul Griffith of Mount Carroll, IL; sisters and brothers Virgie Sanders of Dunlap, TN, Bill (Doylene) Griffith of Rapids City, IL, Larry (Gail) Griffith of Whitewell, TN, Mary (Rodger) Gilgore of Tracy, TN, Pat Lane of Whitewell, TN; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
