HUDSON, Wis. — William “Bill” Weston, age 86, of Hudson, longtime resident of Christian Community Home, Hudson, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2008. He was born August 11, 1922, in Boone, Iowa, son of George Albert and Anna (Stamp) Weston. Bill graduated from Clinton High School in 1941 and went to Iowa State College and then University of Iowa. On September 3, 1942, Bill joined the United States Navy and had quite an extensive military career and was commissioned as a pilot in the Marine Corp. Bill married Jean T. Meeker on August 7, 1948. He retired from the Marine Corps on July 1, 1967. Bill later married Bette Mae Stoltz on October 25, 1974. He was active at St. Peters Catholic Church in Monument, Colorado. He donated his time volunteering at Colorado Springs Olympic Center, he was a member at Pikes Peak, and he was a curator at the National Woodcarving Museum in Monument, CO. Bill enjoyed woodcarving, along with trout fishing and was very active in boyscouts and the Knights of Columbus. Bill is survived by his four children, Kathryn (Ron) Smith of Hudson, WI, William M. (Lindell) Weston of Spirit Lake, IA, Mark Gerard Weston of Hiltonhead, SC, and Michael Patrick (Kelly) Weston of Clinton, IA; six grandchildren: Michael (Trisha), Amanda, Luke, Andrea, Nicole, and Aaron; great-grandchildren, Alysha, Olivia, Madison, Elijah and Abraham; two stepchildren, Bill Stoltz with his children, Becky, Austin, Todd and Elizabeth (Kirby) Nash with her children, Joshua (Paula), John, Tracy (Marc) Smith; further survived by special friends, Shawn and Spence Porter and numerous family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Bette Weston. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on November 8, 2008, at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Clinton, Iowa, with Father Tony Herold officiating. Private interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery with full military honors. Family and friends may pay their respects one hour prior the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Christian Community Home of Hudson or to Boy Scouts of America in Bill’s name. A special thank you to all the staff at Christian Community Home for the 81⁄2 years of loving care given to our father.
