CLINTON — Harry C. Schepler, age 92, of Clinton, died Tuesday Nov. 4, 2008, at Mercy North Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday Nov. 8, 2008, at St. John Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held Friday 4 to 7 p.m. at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Casket bearers will be his grandsons, Daniel and Andrew Schepler, Chris and Jon Jones, Bryan and Todd Petersen, Justin and Joseph Slapnicka. Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters, Emily Anderson, Carrie Rodriguez, Andrea Braunger, Angie Jilek, Alicia and Kayleigh Slapnicka. Harry was born on May 24, 1916, in Elk River Township, Clinton County, IA, the son of Henry and Eleanora (Eickert) Schepler. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1942-1943. He farmed on the family farm his whole life. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, where he was confirmed in 1930 and had been an usher, and the Miles American Legion. He enjoyed fixing and driving tractors and was an avid animal lover. Harry is survived by his wife, Jeanetta, of Clinton; his son, Kenneth (Shirley) Schepler of Beavercreek, OH; three daughters, Deanna (Bryce) Petersen of Clinton, Ruth (Duane) Gray of Thomson, IL, and Barbara (Charles) Slapnicka of DeWitt; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Lester (Alice) Moeller of Preston and Gilbert (Betty) Moeller of Bryant; a sister-in-law, Lucille Schroeder of DeWitt; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and a brother. Death date: Nov. 4, 2008
