Hulsebusch, William "Bill"

DEWITT — William “Bill” Hulsebusch, 76, DeWitt, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon, November 5, 2008, in his home, surrounded by his family. The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2008. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 10, 2008, in the Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Wartgow officiating. Burial and military rites by Eugene McManus American Legion Post #238 will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association of Iowa or Genesis Hospice. Bill was born July 17, 1932, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of William B. and Emma (Hansen) Hulsebusch. He graduated from DeWitt High School in 1950. Bill served his country in the Korean War as Sergeant First Class US Army. On March 25, 1955, he was united in marriage to Barbara Anne Muhs in DeWitt. She preceded him in death on July 25, 2008. Bill was a proud member of the American Legion and the Loyal Order of the Moose. He was employed for 35 years at Sears Manufacturing, retiring in 1998 from his position as Executive Vice President. He enjoyed fishing, vacationing and racquetball. His greatest joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren. Bill took great pride in their accomplishments. He was a man of extraordinary strength and strong will. Survivors include his children and their spouses, Alan and Kathy Hulsebusch, Forest Lake, Minnesota; Gayle and Garry Trimble and Tina and Jamie Lively, all of DeWitt; grandchildren, Nicole, Jaimes and Robert Hulsebusch, Tyler and Aubrey Trimble and Zachary Lively; a special sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bob Gusta, Long Grove; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Blythe and Connie Muhs, DeWitt, and Karen Anderson, Haleyville, Alabama; several nieces and nephews. Preceding Bill in death was his wife of 53 years, Barbara; an infant son, Terry; an infant daughter, Susan; his parents; and infant brother, Jimmy; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harold and Margaret Muhs; brothers-in-law, Dick and Bob Muhs, David Blythe and Terry Anderson. Pallbearers will be Tyler Trimble, Jaimes Hulsebusch, Robert Hulsebusch, Zachary Lively, Aubrey Trimble and Nicole Hulsebusch. Honorary pallbearers will be George Roeder, Fred Behr, Russell Rittmer, George Brown, Weir Sears, Lyle Hinkhouse and Ron Elliott.
