CLINTON — Erwin Jose, age 79, of Clinton, died Monday October 27, 2008, at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 31st, at St. John Lutheran Church in Clinton. The Rev. Wayne Brinkmann will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Pape Funeral Home and from 9:00 a.m. until the service time Friday at the church. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Casket bearers will be family and friends of Erwin. Honorary casket bearers will be the staff and patrons of the Harbor Café in Fulton. Erwin was born in Bessarabia, Romania, on November 16, 1928, the son of Benjamin and Emma Fickel Jose. He came to Canada with his parents at the age of eight months. He grew up on his parents’ farm and was educated in rural Canadian schools. In 1949 they moved to South Dakota and in 1952 came to Clinton. Erwin married Edna Munsch on December 28, 1952, in Clinton. Edna died in 1990. Erwin worked for Rich Toy Factory for a year then at Clinton Corn, Nabisco, A.D.M. for over 37 years, retiring in 1990. Erwin was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He loved to fish and enjoyed visiting his son and daughter-in-law. Erwin is survived by his son; Rodney “RJ” (Carol) Jose of Brownsville, MN, and his in-law families. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church.Death date: Oct. 27, 2008
