CLINTON — Margaret T. Hanf Haupt Morley, age 86, of Clinton, Iowa, died Thursday, October 9, 2008, at the Alverno Health Care Facility in Clinton. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Margaret was born in Hawley, PA, on January 7, 1922, the daughter of Erich Paul and Margrete Burkhardt Hanf. She graduated from Hawley High School in 1940. Margaret married Harold Haupt in 1940 in Hawley. Harold was killed in action during the Battle of the Bulge on Christmas Eve. Margaret later married Leland Morley on August 23, 1947, in New York. Margaret was the library secretary for Chenango Forks Central Schools in Chenango Forks, NY. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of DeWitt. She enjoyed knitting and was an avid reader. Margaret is survived by her husband, Leland; two daughters, Cherry “Margaret” (Glenn) Green of Binghamton, NY, and Charla (Mike) Gerbig of Powell, WY; a son, Robert “Larry” (Nancy) Morley of Eldridge, IA; a daughter-in-law, Darleen (John) Haggard of Clinton; 11 grandchildren, Heather, Penny, Taunia, Amanda, Sam, Carrie, Virgil, Christopher, Sean, Steven and Craig; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice. Online condolences may be made at www.papefh.com.Death date: Oct. 9, 2008
