BETTENDORF — Edward J. Clark, age 92, of Bettendorf, IA, formerly of Clinton, died Saturday, August 30, 2008, at Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at the St. John Vianney Church in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held Tuesday 10:00 a.m. until the service hour at the church. The Pape Funeral Home in Clinton is assisting the family. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Clinton. Memorials to the church.Edward was born on Feb. 16, 1916, in Clinton, IA, the son of Francis and Frances (Geiger) Clark. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1933 and the Scoville Business College in Clinton. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942-1946. He married Marian Hooks on Sept. 3, 1946, in Clinton. He was an assistant postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service in Clinton for many years, retiring in 1969. He was a member of St. John Vianney Church in Bettendorf since 1993 and prior to that with Prince of Peace Parish in Clinton. He served on the Clinton Mobile Meals Board for three years and delivered mobile meals for over 10 years. He enjoyed gardening and woodcarving. Edward is survived by his wife, Marian Clark, of Bettendorf; two daughters, Ellen (Doug) Nelson of Bettendorf and Kathleen (Bill) Behrend of Sioux Falls, SD; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Determan of Bettendorf and Jeanne Kenney of Belvidere, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Doris Horst.Death date: Aug. 30, 2008 #
