CLINTON — Julie Lynn Wilke, age 50, of Clinton, died Monday, August 11, 2008, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 15th, at the Pape Funeral Home in Clinton. The Rev. Jennifer Henry will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery. Casket bearers are Paula Broza, Sally Brunkner, Steele Cram, Tony Schmidt, Steve Bratthauer, Brian Luckritz, Erik Millman and Steve Millman. Julie was born on August 25, 1957, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of William “Bill” and Rosella Jensen Schmidt Sr. She graduated from Northeast High School in Goose Lake in 1975. Julie married Glenn Wilke at Zion Lutheran Church in Clinton on July 30, 1988. She had been employed at International Paper in Clinton for 17 years. Julie was baptized and confirmed at Zion and while growing up she never missed a day of Sunday school. Julie loved her home and being with her family and friends. She enjoyed arts and crafts, crossword puzzles, flowers, fishing and camping and the lakes of northern Minnesota. Julie was an animal lover who enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels. She handmade Christmas cards and was known for her delicate decorations on her Christmas cookies she baked every year. Julie is survived by her husband, Glenn; her parents, Bill and Rosella Schmidt of Clinton; her sisters, Roxann (her husband, Jesse) of Bellevue, IA, and Bonnie (her husband, Vince) McMahon of Ocklawaha, FL; her brother, William (his wife, Jamie) Schmidt of Miles, IA; her father and mother-in-law, Wayne L. and Marylyn Wilke of Clinton; her sisters-in-law, Lisa (her husband, Steve) Millman of Clinton and Susan Wierenga of Fulton, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
