CLINTON — Thelma E. Nichols, age 86, of Clinton, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at her home. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2nd at Prince of Peace Parish, Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. Anthony Herold will officiate. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery. Thelma was born in Jefferson, Iowa, on August 15, 1921, the daughter of Glenn and Marion Cromwell Taylor. She graduated from Jefferson High School. Thelma married Jim Nichols on August 1, 1955, at St. Patrick’s Church in Clinton. She had worked at E.I. DuPont for a short time and later at G.E. in Morrison for ten years. Thelma had also been a Stanley Dealer. Thelma was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, the Loyal Order of the Moose, and the Fulton Country Club. She and Jim had wintered in Arizona for 22 years. She enjoyed golfing, dancing and camping. Thelma is survived by her husband Jim; a son, Steve (his wife Melanie) of Parkersburg, WV; six grandchildren, Randy Cosman, Beth Kumpf, Scott Cosman, Alicia Heffron, Shawn Nichols and Jeremy Nichols; six great-grand-children; Alex, Zach, Jonathan, Makenzie, Aaron and Sydney; and a sister, Lois Jean Brant of Jefferson, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Janice Heffron in 2005 and two brothers. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice.
