CLINTON — Doug J. Collins, 53, of Clinton, IA, died Monday, July 28, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center, Clinton, IA. As per Doug’s request, all services will be private on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Honorary pallbearers will be Judy Aurand, Cathy Hand, David Hoogheem, Pam Hoogheem, Jean Roeder, Judy Gulley, Mary Sanders, Julie Miller, Bob Miller, and Susan Miller. Memorials may be made to The Clinton Humane Society. Douglas Jay Collins was born on March 26, 1955 in Clinton, IA, the son of Gordon and Mary Bea (Edson) Collins. He married LeAnna Andrews on September 18, 1976 in Clinton, IA. He was a 1973 graduate of Clinton High School and was the general operation manager of Allied Waste of Clinton for many years. He was an avid reader, liked to kayak, and enjoyed the outdoors-especially hiking with his buddy Kaycee. He loved all types of music, was a Ragbrai Sherpa, and was a Maker’s Mark ambassador. Survivors include: his daughter, Jessica L. Collins of Camanche, IA; brothers: Dan A. Collins and his wife Jodi of Clinton, IA, and David E. Collins and his wife Jeanne of West Liberty, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents.Death date: July 28, 2008
