DeWITT — The Rev. Dr. Roger C. Dierks, 78, DeWitt, Iowa, died Thursday morning, July 17, 2008 at Westwing Place, DeWitt. He was born June 8, 1930, in DeWitt to Clarence and Florence (Benson) Dierks. He was a graduate of Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa, and the Chicago Theological Seminary. He received his PHD in Adult Education at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. On June 29, 1958, he was united in marriage to Elsabea Kube at Elvira Zion Lutheran Church. He ministered at numerous parishes beginning at Calvary Lutheran Church in Belleville, Illinois, Lord of Life Lutheran Church and First Lutheran Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. After his retirement, he served in Faith Lutheran Church, Richmond, Indiana, and St. Paul Lutheran Church Anamosa, Iowa, as well as other Iowa area churches. As an avid sports fan, he enjoyed bowling, attending the Indianapolis 500, as well as cheering for Indiana University Basketball and Bobby Knight. Survivors include his wife, Elsabea, DeWitt; sons, Jeffrey Dierks and daughter-in-law, Diane, Brazil, Indiana, and Stephen Dierks, Carmel, Indiana. His parents and two sisters, Arline Willets and Darline Fries, preceded him in death. The Service of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Elvira Zion Lutheran Church. Bill Michelsen, Interim Minister will officiate. Burial will be in the Elvira Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. Memorials may be given to Little Lamb Day Care in Carmel, Indiana.
