CLINTON — Judith A. Wilke, 73, of Clinton, died Saturday, July 5, 2008, at her home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Judith A. Matzen was born on September 21, 1934, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Lois (Cole) Matzen. She married Vernon “Tobe” Wilke on May 15, 1955, in Clinton; he later died February 3, 1997. She was a 1952 graduate of Clinton High School. She was retired from the City of Clinton as the payroll clerk after 14 years. She was also a homemaker. She was a volunteer with Mercy Auxiliary volunteering in the gift shop, a member of the Clinton Women’s Bowling Association and a member of the Wild Rose Players Club. She is survived by five daughters: Karen (Curt) Platter of Clinton, Iowa, Marcia David of Freeport, Illinois, Sallie Stanley of Clinton, Iowa, Cindy (Steve) Davis of Clinton, Iowa, Melissa (James) Holdgrafer of Bryant, Iowa; one son: Toby Wilke of Clinton, Iowa; 14 grandchildren: Keri (Troy) Shelton, Joshua Platter, Benjamin David, Chris David, Nick David, Brittany Stanley, Katie Stanley, Stephanie Davis, Zachery Davis, Dani Burkholder, Alli Burkholder, Molly Holdgrafer, Lindsey Wilke, and Elizabeth Wilke; five sisters: Rebecca (Richard) Donels of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jane (David) Zimmerman of Monroe, Wisconsin, Diane Soesbe of Clinton, Janet Matzen of Fennimore, Wisconsin, and Cathy (Don) Merritt of Rock Island, Illinois; one brother: Robert Matzen of Olympia, Washington; and two sisters-in-law, Jeanne Fiet, Morrison, IL, and Gwen Edens of Clinton, IA; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, Dorothy Matzen, and her brother, John Matzen. Memorials can be made to Genesis Hospice.
