CLINTON — Robert J. Martin, 66, of Clinton, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center - North Campus. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2008, from 11 - 2 p.m. at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel, 2610 Manufacturing Drive. Funeral services will follow visitation at 2 p.m. with Dennis Glew officiating. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Robert was born November 11, 1941, in Opp, Alabama, to Jacob and Bertha (Meadows) Martin. Robert served in the United States Navy. He married Judy Carrier August 9, 1962, and later married Ruby Goettsch April 7, 1995, in Milton, FL. Robert was employed with DuPont for 35 years as an operator. He was a member of the AMVETS, was a big fan of NASCAR and loved watching football.Robert is survived by his wife, Ruby, of Clinton; son, Brandon (Cindy) Martin of Alexis, IL; three stepdaughters, Deanna (Stephen) Larkin of Clinton; Kathy (Danny) Liggins of Clinton and Laura Goettsch of Clinton, one stepson, Carl Sparlin of Clinton; one granddaughter, Amanda Martin; several stepgrandchildren; several stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Louise (Clifton) Cook of Opp, AL, and Marcella (Wayne) Gomillion of Opp, AL; one brother, Roy (Claire) Martin of Opp, AL; two nieces, Rita (Gary) Walsh of Colorado Springs, CO, and Anita Gibson of Florida; and one nephew, Harold Wayne Martin of AL.Preceding him in death are his parents; one daughter, Brenda; two sons, RJ and David; one sister, Stella and; one nephew, Ernest.Memorials are being established.Death date: July 5, 2008
