LOW MOOR — Ferdinand J. Jessen, age 87, of the Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton, formerly of Low Moor, Iowa, died Friday, July 4, 2008, at Harbor Crest. A private family service will be held. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Klark Sikkema, Gregg Sikkema, Klark Jessen, Keith Jessen, Krista Sikkema and Kathleen Quick. Ferdinand was born in Clinton County on November 26, 1920, the son of John H. and Welhemina Stahl Jessen. He graduated from Elvira High School in 1938. Ferdinand married Lucille M. Dellit on September 15, 1946, in Low Moor, IA. He and his wife farmed in the Low Moor area and operated the Low Moor Dairy. Ferdinand was a 50-year member of the Low Moor United Methodist Church. He enjoyed traveling, walking and was well known for his knowledge of antique cars. He and Lucille had traveled to all 48 contiguous states. Ferdinand is survived by his wife, Lucille; two daughters, Kathleen Quick of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Krista (her husband, Gregg) Sikkema of Fulton; two sons, Keith (his wife, Linda) Jessen of Kirkwood, CA, and Klark (his wife, Anita) Jessen of Oslo, MA; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials and cards of condolences may be sent to Lucille at the Harbor Crest Nursing Home, 817 17th St., Fulton, IL 61252.Death date: July 4, 2008
