MACHESNEY PARK — Lawrence R. “Mickey” Bonnell, 71, of Machesney Park departed this life at 4:22 pm Tuesday, June 24, 2008 after a long illness. Mickey is now with Judie, the love of his life for 41 years. They are golfing on the most beautiful golf course in God’s creation. He is happy and at peace. Mickey was deeply loved and will be missed by devoted family that he was so proud of: His son Mark (Sindi) Bonnell; daughters Jeanie (Mike) Wucki and Dana (Les) Campbell. Proud Grandfather of six — Grandpa to Joshua, Lindsay, and Callie; Pepa to Lucas and Lauren; and Papa to Grant. His sisters and brothers have endearing love for their eldest brother Mickey: Joan Burger, Patricia Balzer, Donald Bonnell, John Bonnell. His dearest friends will miss him, there are too many to mention. Our Dad was a wonderful father, like no other. He was a caring, gentle and strong man. He had compassion and always a strong shoulder to lean on. Never a cross word only kindness and understanding. He was loved and cherished by all those who knew him. Mickey had wonderful memories of his hometown, Rock Falls, Illinois, his days in the Navy, his friends at the VFW and all the fun times with his family and friends. Mickey also shared special times of his life with many of you. We hope you can join us for his Funeral Service on Monday, June 30th at 10:00 am in Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, with Rev. Dr. William Richard Kerr, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, Sunday, June 29th in the funeral home. Tributes and condolences may be shared with the family at www.mem.com. A memorial will be established at a later date. Memorials may be made in care of the Bonnell Family.Death date: June 24, 2008
