CLINTON — Jeannette L. Hopkins, age 77, of Clinton, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at the Wyndcrest Nursing Home. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 14th, at the Prince of Peace Parish, Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. Anthony Herold will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Reece Struve, Brian Hamm, Josh Lilly, Doug Haines, Luke Fischer and Bryce Hopkins. Honorary casketbearer will be Ben Roseland. Jeannette was born in Clinton, Iowa, on February 13, 1931, the daughter of Alvin W. and Veronica M. Walsh Sanderson. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1949 and from St. Anthony’s School of Nursing in Rock Island in 1952. Jeannette married Norman Hopkins on April 11, 1953, in Clinton. Norman died in 1997. Jeannette was a registered nurse at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Clinton for 33 years retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish. Jeannette had a love of life she shared with her family and in the hats she wore. She enjoyed reading, following the Cubs, bird watching, gymnastics and figure skating. Jeannette is survived by her children, Jane Struve, Kathryn (Kurt) Haines, Betty Lilly, Theresa (Jim) Roseland, Tom Hopkins, Mark (Melissa) Hopkins, all of Clinton and Ann (Rick) Reyes of Moline, IL; a daughter-in-law, Marye Alyce Hopkins of Clinton; 24 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara (Donald) Flood of Clinton; a half sister, Alice Orr of Price, Utah; two aunts, Betty Still and Lillian Buelow, an uncle, Arthur Sanderson; and nieces and nephews. Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, John, in 1993 and two brothers. Death date: June 10, 2008
