CLINTON — John W. Cleppe, age 63, of Clinton, died Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3rd, at the Pape Funeral Home in Clinton where a memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Inurnment will be in Springdale Cemetery. John was born in Clinton, Iowa, on January 12, 1945, the son of Leroy J. and Patricia Broadrick Cleppe. He had attended Blackhawk College in Sterling, IL. John married Patricia Everly on February 5, 1986, in Clinton. He had worked in construction and as an automotive mechanic as well as working maintenance at the Cambridge Apartments. John enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, camping and following the NASCAR races. John is survived by his wife, Patricia; a very special stepdaughter, Melissa (her husband, Dan) Walters whom John and Patricia raised from the age of one; a daughter, Jolene Shaff of Parkview, IA; three stepsons, Roy (his wife, Amanda) Easley of Clinton, Jimmy Easley of Clinton and Perry Curtain of IL; five granddaughters, eight grandsons, a great-granddaughter and a great-grandson. John is also survived by three sisters, Sharon (her husband, Jimmy) Juricic of Joliet, IL, Charleen (her husband, Richard) Haring of Savanna, IL, and Patricia (her husband, James) Drury of Camanche; three brothers, Leroy D. (his wife, Marlene) Cleppe of Camanche, Jay Anderson of Chadwick and Jeff Anderson of Savanna; and 24 nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter and a brother James. Death date: May 29, 2008
