PRESTON — Everett Earl Yaddof, age 74, of Preston, Iowa, died on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at his home surrounded by his family. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2008, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Preston, Iowa. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Preston. A visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, St. John’s Lutheran Church. A memorial fund has been established in Everett’s name. Everett was born on May 19, 1933, the son of Elmer and Norma (Ruchotzke), in Deep Creek Township, rural Clinton County, Iowa. He graduated from Preston High School, class of 1951. On July 24, 1954, Everett married Nancy Jo Culver in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Preston; she passed March 2, 1991. Everett and Nancy Jo owned and operated Clinton Academy of Beauty in Clinton, Iowa. Everett worked for the Savanna Ordnance Depot. Savanna, Illinois; the Jackson County Iowa Hwy Maintenance Department; Jackson County supervisor, Third District, the Preston Police Department, as head custodian of the Preston School District and a driver for Eastern Iowa RTA. He served on the Preston City Council, St. John’s Lutheran Church Council, and the Preston Cemetery Board and was a member of the Preston Volunteer Fire Department. Everett was a registered softball and baseball official with the Iowa Girls and Boys High School Athletic Union. He enjoyed being an umpire at various surrounding schools in Iowa for baseball and softball games, and was a basketball referee. Everett held great pride in being selected to be an umpire at the Iowa Girls State Softball Tournament. He very much enjoyed fishing, a little gambling, playing board games, Domino’s and Bean Bag toss. Everett loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Everett will be dearly missed by two daughters, Kathy Kilburg (Don Yahn) and Kelly (Brent) Sterk, all of Clinton, Iowa; four grandchildren, Megan (Doug) Farrugia, Brant Kilburg of San Diego, Ca and Leah and Kylie Sterk; four brothers, Alvin (Velma) Yaddof, Elmer (Carol) Yaddof, Norman (Jean) Yaddof of Preston, Robert Yaddof of Davenport, Iowa; and sister, Lois (Larry) Hoffman of Preston; and a special friend and companion, Betty Sudmeier. Everett is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy Jo; one sister, Florence Yaddof; and one brother, Melvin Yaddof.Death date: May 18, 2008
